Xato Here it was. He had found what he was looking for with little trouble and he was proud of himself because he was not the most directionally gifted horse that walked the earth. It was a cave. He was sure that Lycan was right behind him and that she would laugh at him or mock him for bringing them to such an odd place but, there was a method to his madness. He wanted a place for shelter during a storm. He imagined that it would be somewhat warmer inside of there for during the rougher parts of winter. And, it would be a nice place for foals to play in. This was what would complete his territory with his friend Lycan. Xato looked over shoulder to see how far Lycan was behind him.
He turned his head back forward and threw his head back and let out another claiming call. He felt complete now, he had the land that he needed and his friend Lycan. He raised himself on his quarters in a valiant and bravado display. He kicked his front legs out in front of him like he was punching the air. He landed back on the ground and shook his mane. He hadn't felt this good in a long time. He finally had a stable place to live. No more wandering around aimlessly for this brute anymore. This was his land now. he was finally the ruler. He shook his head and rose to his haunches again. He felt great. He let out another cry but this was not claiming. This was pure joy and freedom of a wild stallion. Nothing could break him. He was mentally and physically strong. Now, that he had a partner and some land, he was unstoppable. He didn't care if he looked like an idiot, he was happy. Things were finally looking up for him.
He wanted to do a lap around the land that he had just claimed for fun but then, he remembered that he didn't really want to run. He snorted in order to collect himself from his behavior. The last thing he wanted to look like was childish. He arched his neck and stomped his foot on the ground. The way that he stood showed that he was feeling very confident. He was ready for whatever the world had to throw at him.

Her legs and flanks hurt from running over uneven ground. The thick horse ached in places she did not realize could ache. Her neck was stretched to the ground in front of her, her muzzle barely a foot away from the earth. She had pushed on after spooking away from the only life she knew. Somehow, her saddle had fallen off in the process, and a ring of dried sweat coated her back where the leather had been. She walked as one of the dead. What did she have to live for, anyhow? The mare was lost, her inner compass failing to bring her home. It has been almost a week now, and the mare has been alone in her endevours. Her grey and black audits now lay limp on the sides of her head, her short mane raggedly lining up behind. Slowly placing one hoof in front of the other, she made her way across the unknown land, hoping that who ever it belongs to won't take offense of her trespassing. The air was chilly to the clipped fur of the dapple. A slight wind played with her black mane and tail. She walked slowly. Her ears pricked, catching the claiming call. Her head shot up, eyes searching for the unknown horse. She picked up her pace, finally eyeing the cave that loomed over her short body. She heard the sharp clack as a tawny stallion stamped his hoof, his neck arched. She stopped short, unsure of herself. She has had little experience with the males of her species, and the sight of one sent a shiver up her spine.
Lowering her head to an obedient level, she slowly crept closer to the stallion in the cave entrance.

Xato Shortly after his call, a mare come into his presence. She was a very pretty dappled color. A color that he had not seen very often. Mostly he saw dark horses like Lycan. She looked flustered and unsure of herself. Perfect. Lycan had not arrived yet so, it was the perfect time to talk to the mare. He had a feeling Lycan would not be pleased with another mare being around but, she would have to deal with it. He relaxed his proud stance to talk to the mare who had voluntarily submitted to him. This would be an easy meeting. Hello mare, I am Xato, lead stallion of Cresendo. He tried to make his voice sound reassuring but, he couldn't really reassure her because he might not be the best horse for her to be around. He was a dangerous stallion and Lycan was a dangerous mare. Though, he was sure that she would be safer with him than her. What brings you to my lands? He needed to ask her this question for several reasons. First, she could be wanting to join. Second, she could be some kind of spy. Thirdly, she could just be lost. The third option seemed more reasonable to him. She was covered with sweat from running so if she was lost, then she must have run away. Or maybe she was being chased by something. In which case, she would need to be escorted out of his land immediately. He didn't want some crazed beast in his territory.
His voice to her was very controlled and refined. He was a leader now and he needed to start acting like one. He had just claimed land. Land that could be easily taken away if he was not careful. Anyone who came here had to know that he was in charge and if they wanted to change that then, they would be loosing more than some blood. But, this mare looked like no threat to him or his land. She simply looked like she didn't know where she was. He himself had a similar look when he first stumbled upon Equibellum. He had originally thought that he was the only horse on the whole continent. Until he met his friend Lycan of course. He hoped that she would arrive soon. Not that he needed her back up but, he was getting worried that she had gotten lost or fallen and broken a leg. He wished that she would hurry up.
((OOC: sorry this took so long. I completely forgot about this thread))

Lycan kept the strong beat, her stride below carried all sense of determinations towards claiming more land. The single thought to occupy her was one of her noble king, Xato. How much their short friendship had lead to such great things, however baffled by the thoughts of friendship rather than ones of leadership Lycan gave a slight kick of her heels. The uplifting movement came with slight plume of dust to arise from the dry ground. Black tresses arched high, clear from the dirt now floating silently in the atmosphere.
Ahead Xato had once again came a sudden halt, this must be the next place to call home. It certainly looked like a home, the cave hidden beneath the tree line provided the perfect cover and shelter from harsh weather. Watching him collide with the air was an act of beauty, and of course Lycan followed suit. Raising herself up on her hind legs, her brute frame held a solid position as she gave a powerful blow the blue. In hailing to her peak, the mare released another mighty neigh. The sound sure to travel far in the light breeze, all the inhabitants of the lands would know she was a leader not to be crossed.
The vile scent of another equine swiftly grabbed her attention from the thoughts in her mind, snapping her head the sickly sight of her masked face came into play. Her body twisted in a quick un-natural position, facing the new equine Lycan picked her to be a mare. Obviously not a threat by the soulless figure. Weak she was weak, the point in which horses should fear the mare which looks over them, a disgrace to be wondering her lands was the single minded thought shot to the grey. Lycan have managed to over hear the last words spoken by her friend, "Our! lands, yes please enlighten me as to why you took a chance to wonder onto these parts." Certain words had an emphasis of a violent touch, others simply fell with her deathly grace." I am Lycan, lead mare. Oh do please thy with your greetings"

Xato Xato had had a feeling that Lycan would react the way that she did to the mare. Actually, he was expecting something a lot worse. At least she wasn't yelling. But, he had made a mistake of claiming that the land was his when in actuality it was theirs. Oops. Yes, my apologies. Our lands. He tried to correct his mistake. Something he rarely does. Usually he doesn't make any mistakes but, this one was understandable. Xato had always imagined having his own land without sharing so in his mind, when a stranger came into his part of the continent then he would say his. He had played this out many times in his head so it was not surprising to him that he had made this little fault. What surprised him more was that he was actually apologizing. What? Apologizing was not the Xato way. Xato always did whatever he wanted and if anyone tried to stop him, well, he would stomp on their heads. Maybe it was the fact that Lycan was his friend. They hadn't been friends for very long but, he still felt a connection to her. She was family and, he did everything and anything for family. Family were the only beings that could make him correct himself so, that must be it.
While he was figuring all of that out, Lycan must have continued talking to the obviously lost and scared mare. He couldn't say that he felt bad for the mare. She had come onto freshly claimed land without announcing herself. But, they had not really made their boarders clear yet so he could understand how one would get lost and find themselves in territory that had been laid claim.
Xato stretched out his neck and touched his muzzle to Lycan's nose. Hoping to calm her down a bit and to help his apology even more. He set his big brown eyes on her. Just waiting. She was definitely family. This was not normal behavior for the stallion, especially in front of strangers. But, the dappled that had come here had no place to say anything to him about it. She was in their land--without permission and she was too tired looking to out run him. If he wanted to, he could catch her so, the thought of her saying anything that would upset him didn't bother him much. He was a very large stallion and the mare was not so much.

Her soft eyes met the stallions when he introduced himself. His name, as well as the lands he leads, were names she has never heard before. Of course, she has never been outside a corral before. She pricked her ears, heightening her head a touch. Her sensitive ears picked up his reassuring voice, but he seemed to be trying to make his lyrics that way. She had a feeling they weren't always like that. She took a breath to answer his words, but then another horse joined them. A black mare, who spit out vile words at the unsuspecting grey. Her pricked ears lost their friendly interest, replaced by pinning them in fear. She had no idea of what consequences a horse got for entering lands without announcing one's self. She suspected they weren't good.
Eyes followed as the tawny stallion corrected himself for the black mare. If the mare had entered into her life and spoke like that, the stocky mare wouldn't have stood for it, but that was not the case, and she was tired. Lycan's poisonous question set her heart pounding. She firmly kept her black tail between her legs, like a dog who had just been punished. She couldn't help but tremble a little. All she wanted was to know she was not alone. What had she done that was so awful to the soulless mare?
Bravely, she unpinned her ears, and lifted her head high. "My name is Iggy, and I had not known of your land." She watched the stallion touch his lead mare on the muzzle. "I was only wanting to know why Xato was so happy." She had mentioned Xato's happiness, because he seemed happy. The mare seemed angry. She felt insulted at the words. Shaking her head, she spun around on a heel, and started to walk away from the strange couple. Her muscles were sore, and it was more of a limp, then a walk. She focused on moving. The stallion seemed nice, but she knew she could never be friends with the mare. Good and Evil don't mix.

Lycan kept the over powering stance before the mare, her head raised with a arch; of course to expose the bunched muscle beneath her polished pelt. Ears poised, never did they back down towards another equine. Not even to the most angered of brutes, much like Xato on their first encounter.A dull yet vile stare came from beneath her cloaked orbs, a dark wisp of forelock neatly sat covering her eyes. Which to the receiver of the glare, was probably a good thing. The simple mistake of Xato's was soon corrected on her arrival, it was obvious Xato too was power hungry. It seemed he had longed to own this land by he spoke of it, so of course the falter in his description was forgiven.
A slight amusement came from the way the smaller mare pinned back her ears, it brought joy to mare to see others in this state when in her presence. Taking a stride back from almost touching her, Lycan calmed swiftly by the soothing touch of Xato. This mere touch was a start, to greater things to come she was sure. His scent caressed her nostrils as the kind gesture was returned. Extending her neck from the rolled arch, the mare ran her muzzle across the stallions to his forehead. Drawing back her touch, Lycan composed herself from the sentimental act.
Flicking her tail, a simple thrash came from the intricate spirals black twirls. Allowing the new soppy mare to take her attention, Lycan listed to her speech. Almost instantly after answering her question Lycan became bored, eyeing her briefly the mare lowered her head. Brushing her muzzle along the soft flora, the mare took a bite before bringing her head back up. To her first statement, the only to respond with was a phrase of Quite, obviously you didn't. Or I assume you would not have entered these parts A boring tone was among the words which spilled once more, discontent with the new comer Lycan thought best is Xato deal with her.

Xato The dappled grey mare looked friendly enough. He could tell that she was being sincere and that she probably really was lost. She quivered as Lycan spoke to her. Yup, definitely lost and sincere. The grey looked maybe a bit flustered to him. Having all of this spat at you; all of this new information being shoved in once's face must have been overwhelming. But, that didn't excuse her actions. She had to have heard the claiming calls. This was freshly claimed land and he and Lycan had a right to be upset with her. She could have been an assassin for all they knew. Lost or not, one still needed to introduce themselves before intruding. The mare had explained herself as wanting to know why he was so happy. Wasn't it obvious? He had just claimed land, what other reason would he be so overjoyed?
Lycan seemed to relax at his apologetic touch. That was good right? It made his life easier when she wasn't being crazy. Lycan was his friend, she truly was but, he liked her a lot better when she was calm and relaxed. The dappled mare just seemed to watch the pair's affections. It was a little creepy but, what else was she to do? She introduced herself as Iggy. It was a funny name to say the least but, "Xato" wasn't much better. Lycan suddenly appeared bored after Iggy had answered her questions. Typical. She had begun to graze so, he thought that he would just finish this whole meeting. But, it turned out that he may not have to. After Lycan's words to her, the dappled just turned around and walked away. Not very smart. She looked like she had just run for miles and to continue away from rest, food, and water was not the best decision that she had ever made he imagined. He could have chased her or harassed her further to ensure that she left but, Lycan's words might have done the job for him. Excellent. He would patrol the lands in about a half an hour to make sure that she had really left and was not just stowing away in the safety of of claimed lands.
He dipped his head to eat some of the grass. He had to dig a little bit through the light snow that had rested over top of it but, this was no hassle to him. It was better than Frigida and as far as he was concerned it was his snow. The grass was moist from the condensed rain that had laid over top of it. Delicious. He thought about how they had just possibly scared away a potential member for Cresendo but then again, if she wanted to be a part of the herd then, she would have herd of him and Lycan and that this was claimed territory. He didn't worry about that too much.
